This beautiful art glass bud vase was made by Jan-Erik Ritzman of Transjö Hytta in Sweden. The swirled design  reflects shades of blue and red. There is an opening (approx. 1/2 inch) at the top for a few stems. The base is signed J. Ritzman, Transjö. At 3 1/2 pounds, this vase would also function well as a paperweight.

Ritzman is a Master Glassmaker who worked at the Kosta Boda factory in Sweden before opening Transjö Hytta in 1982. At Kosta Boda he helped develop what is now known as "Mid-Century Modernism." According to the Transjö Hytta website, Ritzman was the "first European Glass Master to demonstrate glassblowing in the United States."
